Dec 2, 2008 - unbelivable that he survived that back in those dangerous days. people worry so much about safety now (not saying theres nothing wrong with that) but my theory is if rudd could survive this bad flip and they barely even had safety stuff for the driver, if a car did the same exact flip like that today he would be okay. i dont get why they worry about the cars flipping so much these days becuase look at this wreck he survived and had no HANS or nothing, and a driver today would survive also.

Dec 2, 2008 - I agree with you... but what about micheal McDowell's flip. he wouldn't have survived.

Dec 2, 2008 - the part where mcdowell hits the wall hard i dont think he had survived that part, because of the hard wall's no HANS so yea it could of been fatal or he could of been seriously injured if that would of happend back then. but for the flips, maybe maybe not

Dec 2, 2008 - I kind off agree. In that accident, it could have been much worse if Rudd had gone straight into that pointy bit of the wall. In this case the flip actually dissapated the energy. This is often the case. If you think about most of the accident resulting in death or serious injury, they usually don't include a flip.

Dec 2, 2008 - Rudd is one tough S.O.B.
