Dec 2, 2008 - Well, the Plutonique9 mod at confusedmachines is wrong, for starters.I replaced C24 and C23 with C20 and C19 that are called to be taken out in the instructions. Similarly, replace R61 with R59.This is necessary because R61, C24 and C23 center the oscillator pitch around 130hz, which isn't low enough. The previously removed components will center it closer to 60hz. As you can hear in the demo, it can go waaaay deep when it is done this way.What exactly is wrong with yours?

I took your advice and switched out the caps and resistor and WOW, thats the lowest kick I've ever heard.I started with a 606 that was dropped on it's volume knob and had cracked the circuit board. I paid $50 for it. I figured what the hell, it'll never be collectable so why not mod it. I've now done all the P9 mods and I'm quite happy. I used to own an 808 in similar condition and had also brought it back from the grave only to sell it a few months later.

But now that I got the kick on the 606 working I can move on.The last mod question I have is about the diode pitch envelope. I'm not sure if I'm getting the right results. It acts just like another pitch. I belive I'm using germanium diodes. Is this mod supposed to help make the envelope adjustable to give it a more "compressed" boom ala 808?

Dec 2, 2008 - This I can't help with, because I opted not to do the Germanium diode. I read somewhere it's supposed to make the pitch trickle down slowly.
