(Kevin stares back at Rachel.)RACHEL: Hi there.KEVIN: Hey there, pretty lady. (Joe and Katie laugh. He clears his throat and stands up straight.) I mean...Hey, Rachel. (Rachel giggles.)RACHEL: It's nice to finally meet you.(In the dressing room, Alex is playing "7:05." She and Nick are both singing.)ALEX/NICK: I was fine till 7:05Till she walked out the door and right out of my lifeIf you're gone ill move onBut it only would have taken two seconds to sayGoodbye Goodbye GoodbyeNICK: Wow. I can't believe I remember that. How do you do that?ALEX: What? Remember songs? I don't know. It sounds a lot different from the original. Mostly because your voice is...better.NICK: You mean deeper?ALEX: No. I mean better. (She giggles. The production manager, Joel, comes into the room.)JOEL: You ready?NICK: We sure are.JOEL: Alright, so you know the plan, right, Alex?ALEX: After two songs, they're going to announce me, and I come on. We play..."Got Me Going Crazy." I leave.JOEL: (to Nick) She was born for this.NICK: More than you know. (Alex and Nick stand up and walk out. The cheers radiate from the crowd. Nick meets up with his brothers, and they are announced. They run out, and the screams get LOUDER! They play "Pushing Me Away" and "Burning Up." When the music stops, Nick takes over the center mic. He waits for the cheers to get a little quieter before speaking.)NICK: So we were in New York this weekend, and I met this amazing girl. We talked a little bit, and it turns out that she was a long-lost childhood friend. I was so confused, but we started telling each other about our memories, and everything became clear. So, Alex is an amazing singer and guitar player, so she's agreed to play with us. (He looks to the wing.) Lexi, come on out! (She runs out, and Kevin places his guitar strap around her neck. She gets situated and takes her place at an extra microphone.)ALEX: Thank you, Nick. (Jack plays the drum intro, and she joins in with the guitar. Ear-drum breaking, hair-raising AWESOMENESS. Nick high-fives Kevin on his left side as Joe and Alex "pound it." Nick pulls Alex into a hug. She gives the guitar back to Kevin. The Jonas Brothers play five more songs and bring Alex back out for an encore. The four huddle.)KEVIN: What are we playing?NICK: I have a pretty good idea. Lexi, baby, how does "Just Friends" sound?ALEX: Let's do it.JOE: You wanna introduce it?ALEX: Me?JOE: You were the muse for it.NICK: It only makes sense.ALEX: Alright. (They break the huddle. Alex goes to a mic.) You want one more? We're gonna play one of my personal favorites. A little song called "Just Friends." (The cheers start again, and they play the song.)
