Did I just see Cindy holding Trig? I mean: can we have it one way or the other? Either the family is out of bounds or it is in the spotlight. Brandishing a Down Syndrome child as a campaign statement is daring the press to ask questions about him. And if you are going to hold the baby in front of the cameras, how can you say that the details of his birth cannot even be discussed?http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/parading-the-ba.htmlHours ahead of Sarah Palin's big speech at the RNC, the Palin family met the McCain family as they arrived at the airport. Visible in the live shots on MSNBC taken at the airport appear to be two new campaign faces: Palin's older son Track, who is in the Army and is likely the gentleman with close-cropped hair, and daughter Bristol's boyfriend Levi Johnston, with whom she expects a child later this year. The pair were holding hands on the tarmac. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/03/levi-johnston-and-track-p_n_123559.htmlThey took center stage with the full knowledge that their 17-year-old's five-months-along pregnancy was about to become front page news around the world. Bristol Palin hasn't been the star of a major kids TV show like Jamie Lynn or Miley Cyrus. She has not chosen a life of celebrity. But now, thanks to her mother's decision to accept the Republican Vice Presidential candidacy, her private life — her sex life — is as exposed as if she had long been a cover regular on Star or US Weekly. She has unwittingly and literally become the poster child for her mother's anti-choice and abstinence-only education policies. But Bristol Palin isn't a policy poster child, or a celebrity, she's a real live 17-year-old trying to cover her growing bump with a baggy sweatshirt or by holding her 4 month-old baby brother as a shield. She's now planning, according to her mom's statement, to marry and spend her life with her 18-year-old boyfriend, Levi Johnston, a guy who uses the "f" word as his major descriptive adjective on his MySpace page. He also until yesterday described himself as someone who "likes to hang out with the boys...and just f---in chillin," and who doesn't want kids on that same page, until it was yanked off of public view. What kind of parents today — this is 2008 — want to doom their daughter to a "shotgun" marriage with a guy who doesn't want kids? It's going to be tough enough for Bristol to finish high school, let alone go on to college and realize any ambitions of her own, without being trapped in a marriage that neither young person is probably ready for. And if self-described "redneck" Levi isn't happy about being pushed into parenthood and marriage, you can "f---in" expect he'll make sure that Bristol knows about it.Like most teenage girls she is probably insecure and is blaming herself for her own predicament.Blaming herself for not being abstinent and instead being one of the 60% of American high school seniors who are sexually active. Blaming herself for getting pregnant like 3 out of 10 American teen girls do each year. And now blaming herself for possibly derailing her mother's vice-presidential ambitions because of that pregnancy. There's no way that she's not going to do what her parents want, in order to bolster her mother's image, even if that means supporting her mother's platform and getting married at 17.And just imagine if John McCain and Sarah Palin are elected to two terms in office. Bristol's every move as a teen mom will be under scrutiny — Britney-style. Her marriage to Levi Johnston, will HAVE TO WORK or her parents' image will be tarnished. Talk about pressure, Bristol.Sarah Palin also needs to ponder this: if she succeeds in "normalizing" her daughter's pregnancy, making it almost seem sort of glamorous, will other teen girls look at this and say what is the problem with having a baby? asks Sarah Brown, the CEO of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancies. In that case, Palin's exploitation of her daughter hasn't just hurt Bristol's own young life, she'll hurt countless others.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bonnie-fuller/sarah-palin-she-has-chose_b_123282.html

Nov 19, 2008 - Three questions that keep going through my mind... Why did Bristol stay away from public/school in the "last four months of her mom's" pregnancy? Second, why were all photos of Sarah's pregnancy removed?Third, how old was Bristol when she supposingly got pregnant five months ago?
mccommas2 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Oberman -- what an ass.
trojone8 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - You are so extreme. I am affraid that you are blinded by your fervor for Barry and Joe and may never allow yourself to understand the truth. You are beyond hope. I guess I will continue like so many other's as Barry put it so succinctly, "to cling to my guns and religion" May god bless you.
nobody30 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - It is funny that you called me extreme but yet you failed to see how extreme McCain and Sara really are. It is funny that you support a man who hates women, who is racist, who hates gays and wants to have more wars. Palin also has a lot of hate as well especially she hates animals. Too bad you religious loonies did not learn about the seven deadly sins, and you people practice all these sins. What a shame. God does not bless you.
trojone8 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I think the ones with hate, besides yourself of course, is maybe Michele. John doesn't hate women, isn't a rascist etc. Where do you come up with this psycho babble unless of course that is the problem. I'm not religious by the way, but you somebody to bless your poor pathetic soul. May god damn you, just like J. Wright said may god damn America. Now fuck off and go away piece of fucking shit nobody.
nobody30 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Trojone8? See, you are practicing 7 deadly sins! I can see the anger coming out from you. My comments about John McCain, are all true! Why can't you be a man and look it up? You definitely a racist and a sexist scum like McCain! If he be president, he is NOT going to protect you or make your life better. For Americans like you, GODDAMN YOU! Keep on losing you subnormal low life bastard! Too bad you was not raised to be intelligent! Don't ever say a goddamn word to me again!
BeenBroughin Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I'm curious...Why is that baby always asleep? I realize he's just a few months old, but he has slept through loud, sustained applause on several occasions. The tabloid magazine cover photos show him "asleep" as well. Perhaps rather than passing him around from person to person, subjecting him to his sister's saliva being smeared in his hair (sorry, that was not cute-it was disgusting), & cindy mccain repeatedly rubbing his vulnerable soft spot, care for him elsewhere. He's been introduced.
mightyblack1 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - True.
b6packdone Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Candidates always have their children with them at functions like this, including democrats. That does not mean they should be a target for the media or mean spirited people. They are kids that are participating in a huge event that includes their mother or father. I dont care who you support, to attack kids out of dislike of a candidate is just in mean spirit, and has nothing to do with the real issues we should all be talking about.
mc31773 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - They should not have a special needs baby at such a loud, bright and confusing place. It is cruel to do that. Lights and sounds scare them. How sad. Please vote for Obama because if Palin somehow becomes president we are in big trouble
JayBlanche Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Top work AC, keep clipping your TV for the rest of the world...we get to see very little of this outside of the US.
daexion Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - We do NOT need the president, or vice president wanting to be our friend. They are supposed to be leaders.
myrnaukelele Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I've wondered that myself. What are they putting in his formula?
BeenBroughin Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Hmmmmm?
idance4him333 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Wow what double standards everyone has---everything is so...........cute....but let the shoes be on the other foot. Psalms 28:2-32 When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability. 3 A poor person who oppresses the poor is like a pounding rain that destroys the crops; 7 Young people who obey the law are wise;those with wild friends bring shame to their parents. Read all of Psalms 28 and it really is the truth!!
fiammeaudace Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I don't like how she parades her baby around. Stop making it such a spectical. Plenty of mothers have children with Downs and I'm sure they don't appreciate her using her baby as a campaign technique.
ivoteprolife Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - She is not ashamed of her son. Do you want her to hide him in a closet? Children that have disabilities have every right to be born as be anywhere in society that everyone else does.....
mimi0674 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I wonder if she is going to have more children in office, like on the The View, or Kathy Lee gifford or other working women?
alexhu201 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - That baby is not even hers... That baby is her daughter's, Palin made a big cover up for her daughter who was 17 at the time of getting pregnant with that baby.. (first of two)Why did her daughter take 6months off from school for "mono"?How did Palin give a 30min speech and then take an 11hr flight after her water apparently broke in Texas? How did Palin return to work 3days after the birth? Why did the announcement of the pregnancy come as a shock to Palin's coworkers in Alaska?
eastwood2414 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Exactly "daexion". Wise words spoken, but we have more dumb citizens than rational ones.

Nov 19, 2008 - It's the Republicans who keep using them as a tool. If they don't like the criticism, then they shouldn't parade them around.
