Last spring I took off to the outback for a few days...a few hundred kilometres north-east of Perth, Western Australia. It was fantastic...into the back of my 4WD went some food, sleeping gear and my accordion. The first night was bliss...sitting by my campfire...clear skies [very cold]...playing the squeezebox...and hoping not to attract any poisonous snakes or hungry monitor lizards :-)The next morning, coffee in hand and enjoying the warmth of the morning sun I was treated to a fanciful aerobatics display by a few small birds...who started off by using my head as the point around which they could display their fabulous dexterity in the air. I loved their playfulness...it inspired this tune FLIGHT :-)About the video footage: I had the camera running during rehearsals, but the battery ran out before we did this [audio] take, so the footage of us playing doesn't exactly match the audio. During the vibes, bass and accordion solos the footage is from the place I camped when I wrote FLIGHT.

Jul 3, 2008 - Apart from the road, which is quite compacted, the red dirt is very loose...I don't think it's slippery so much as boggy, when wet :-) I don't think it's visible in this low-rez vid, but in parts there's a thin top layer of blue-coloured dirt...very spectacular...and then suddenly there's huge patches of mustard coloured sand...I love this kind of landscape; it's arid yet teeming with life...kinda terrifying. Awesome in it's truest sense! Thanks for watching :-)

Jul 3, 2008 - I love what you did with the video. Is that red dirt slippery like Georgia clay when it gets wet?
